Reading is just 20 minutes by train from London and The French Horn is only minutes from Reading Station. This provides an ideal base for those wishing to explore all that the capital offers. There is also excellent shopping to be enjoyed at Reading’s Oracle Centre, which is just a few minutes’ drive away.

The hotel is well placed for the race courses at Ascot and Newbury, while keen golfers will find themselves surrounded by prestigious courses, including the famous clubs at Sunningdale and Wentworth.

There is plenty nearby for history lovers in the shape of Stratfield Saye House, a magnificent mansion dating from the 17th century and home to the Dukes of Wellington since 1817. Slightly further afield is Blenheim Palace, perhaps one of Britain’s most beautiful buildings.

Those with children will find it difficult to resist Legoland in nearby Windsor or The Living Rainforest at Newbury, where you’ll see dwarf crocodiles, piranha fish and monkeys.
